Dedicated IP Address
webWHAK now offers the ability to purchase your very own dedicated IP address (also known as static IP). This means that you do not use the same IP address as other websites and can identify you.
There are several advantages to having a dedicated IP. Some are listed below. (This is not an exhaustive list).
- Unique identification - you cannot be detected using reverse IP check on another domain
- SEO - There is debate about this point however many professionals believe that having your own IP helps with search engine optimisation
- SSL - A dedicated IP is required for a valid SSL certificate
- IP detection - if you share an IP with another website there is always a change that they could misuse something and have the server IP banned. While webWHAK will monitor for such behaviour, having a dedicated IP eliminates this problem.
- Website Access - You can access your website directly by IP instead of the domain name (which helps in times such as domain propagation)
Pricing
The price of a dedicated IP may be cheaper with a larger hosting package or when purchased with an SSL Certificate.
